In this week’s From the Archives outfit, the featured piece is a pair of fabulous retro inspired sunglasses. I recently read somewhere that giant sunglasses are back, and I sincerely hope this is true.
This pair is a remnant of the giant sunglasses craze of the 2010s, and I honestly thought it would be many years before I wore them again. I guess technically it has been many years, but I digress.
I think my memory really down played the size of these glasses. I mean, they’re huge! Talk about a statement piece. It’s good that I’ve been really into unexpected wardrobe pieces lately. What could be more unexpected than a pair of giant sunglasses? In orange!
I love the fit of these glasses. My eyes are fully protected from the sun, and they give such a fun 70s vibe to any outfit. They truly feel like the exclamation point that transforms an outfit into a spectacularly fun look.
They are in fact orange, which was initially a challenge for my neutral loving heart, but they go along with my 2024 goal of fully embracing color. Ok maybe not head to toe color, but at least colorful accents! I honestly had so much fun creating an outfit around these sunglasses. Here I’ve decided to lean in to the retro/70s vibe by pairing wide leg jeans with a graphic t-shirt and a pair of suede booties. I’ve also added a patterned blazer for those chilly April mornings and evenings.
Overall, I’d say I’m obsessed. I can’t wait to wear these all summer!
