Nothing says spring like capris. I mean, when else can you wear an item that is simultaneously pant and short? If you had told me a few years ago that I’d be such an advocate for this particular hemline, I’d call you crazy. This is a prime example of why I can never speak in sweeping absolutes. One day I’m thinking that capris are not for me, the next I can’t stop thinking about different ways to style them. Sigh. C’est la vie.
If there ever was an article of clothing that embodied the transitional spirit of spring, it would be capris. Are they a pant? Are they a short? Who knows? But in the short time that I’ve owned this pair, I’ve quickly learned that the prime time to wear them is Spring/Fall. The longer hemline makes them a little too warm for the summer humidity, so the time is now. If the weather is going to be up and down, I might as well wear an equally unexpected pair of pants.
Special shoutout to the headband. I used to wear my hair like this everyday in elementary school, and haven’t returned to this hairstyle since. I don’t know why, because little me seemed to know a thing or two about style. I love how effortless yet put together it looks. This hair, along with the capris, makes me feel like my 90s transformation is complete.
The overall effect is a little retro, and very fun on this Wednesday. What more could I ask of a midweek outfit?
