For today’s outfit, I wanted to do the least amount of thinking possible. I love crafting fun and visually interesting looks, don’t get me wrong. However, every now and then, a palate cleanser is necessary to keep the creative momentum flowing. Today, I wanted to keep things simple, comfortable, and neutral. It’s time for a reset.
Simple, palate cleansing outfits are a staple in my style rotation. There’s something so refreshing and real about putting something together that isn’t trying to do anything. This outfit isn’t trying to be the most colorful or the most trendy. It’s just jeans, a tee, and flats.
In the past, I’ve not allowed myself to wear these kinds of outfits. I thought them too simple, or not able to make enough of a style statement. Ugh. Talk about pressure! As I’ve gotten older, I’ve let myself feel my way through my closet rather than dictate strict rules. I choose what feels best these days. If it’s chic, great! If not, that’s ok too!
I can’t help but feel a little more like myself on these pared back days. I’m not experimenting with trends or venturing out of my comfort zone. While those things definitely have merit, sometimes it’s nice to just be.
