Turtleneck Season

September 11, 2024

This is why I love September. Turtlenecks and shorts. What other time of year can you feasibly wear this combination? Not only shorts, but sandals too! Don’t get me wrong, dressing for two seasons at once can bring its challenges, but I’ve found that it also can be fun. It’s the beginning of turtleneck season and I’m living my best life.

September, to me, has always felt like a formal goodbye to summer. The weather is warm enough to wear a few summer favorites, pumpkin has yet to hit full swing, and the leaves are still green. It’s a gentle ease into a new season, so I’ve created this outfit to reflect that slow shift. The sandals and the denim cutoffs scream summer, while the turtleneck brings this look into fall. It’s a transitional look for a transitional season.

The key to this outfit is the turtleneck. It’s made of tissue thin cotton so I won’t overheat when the afternoon warms up, but it also provides the perfect amount of warmth on those chilly fall mornings. Combined with the cut offs and sandals, and it’s the perfect ease into turtleneck season.

What closet items are you most excited to wear this fall?
