This season, I’ve been loving a few things on repeat. Iced coffee, sun hats, and espadrilles to name a few. When it comes to my closet, this season’s favorite has clearly been a black silk skirt. This vintage silk skirt has been in my wardrobe for a few months, and I’ve found myself reaching for it on repeat. It’s a flattering length, it’s versatile, and it’s cool and breezy enough for this late August heat. Basically, it’s the perfect skirt. I’ve styled it many ways over the summer, some casual and some dressed up, and I’ve found that it does it all. It’s a new summer staple and I can’t get enough!
It’s no secret that I’m a shameless outfit repeater. If I find something I like, I’ll wear it endlessly. This skirt is just more proof of the rule.
Slip skirts like this have been a trend for a few years now, so it’s hardly a revolutionary find. However, sometimes the most simple pieces are the most exciting. I mean, the versatility alone. I could write sonnets!
My 2 favorite ways to style a black silk skirt:
- T-shirts and Sneakers- Probably the most basic choice, but I love how this combo is so effortlessly put together. It’s a slightly upgraded version of the classic t-shirt denim shorts outfit.
- Heels and a silky blouse- The perfect summer dinner outfit. I love dressing this skirt up with a silk tank top or blouse, and a pair of heels. It’s simple, it’s chic, and it keeps me cool.
There’s nothing like discovering a new summer staple. The outfit options feel endless, and I love feeling confident in my outfit styling. This has been the skirt of summer 2024, and depending on how I can layer it, may also be the skirt of fall 2024 too!
