This Fall is All About Ruffles

Sometimes I can just tell a new closet piece is going to be a seasonal favorite. This is one of those times. This ruffled blouse from Aritzia is a new find, and I’m obsessed to say the least. There’s something about the color, the ruffles, the vintage vibe! I can’t get enough. It’s early in the season, but I feel like I can say that this fall is all about ruffles!

This fall, my goal is to lean into a minimalist aesthetic. Not only for the clean lines and classic silhouettes, but also for ease and comfort. The less time and thought that it takes for me to get dressed in the morning, the better. Also the more likely that I will wear a given outfit.

For this look, I’ve chosen to embrace simplicity. There’s not much to this outfit, just a top and a beloved pair of jeans. However, it’s far from boring. The ruffles on the top give just the right amount of texture, and the wide leg creates the perfect contrasting shape. The black and cream color palette also acts as the perfect base for a wine colored lip. It’s a winning look all around.

Where I live, early fall is less about layers and more about color. As we’re still in September, it’s warm enough that I don’t need a jacket, and layering is not yet on the table. The silky material is perfect for those 70 degree days, and the color palette feels decidedly seasonal.

When the temperatures eventually dip, I’ll add a leather jacket, and maybe a beret, overtop for a little extra warmth.

After looking back on this outfit, I can definitely say that this fall is all about ruffles.

How do you feel about ruffles this season? Yay or Nay?
