Overalls for Summer
I think it’s easy to say that simplicity has been the theme of my closet this summer. As much as I love to craft a layered and texturally interesting outfit, sometimes the simplified version better fits the vibe. In this summer heat, this has been the motto that I’ve been living by. When I think about simple summer dressing, I can’t help but think of overalls. Overalls for summer may seem like a basic choice, but that’s kind of the point. It’s a one-piece outfit that offers both comfort and functionality. Not to mention the pockets!
The burnt orange of these overalls is both my favorite thing about them, and also the most difficult thing for me to style. In my primarily neutral closet, this color feels like a statement and I’m always brainstorming new ways to style it. Here, I’ve kept it simple by sticking to a neutral color palette with the white t-shirt.
Instead of reaching for my checkered vans, I decided to dress things up a little with a black penny loafer. The structured shoe with the work-wear inspired overall creates just the right amount of visual contrast. The result is a look that’s casual but also slightly unexpected. There’s nothing like a little pinch of contrast! Now I’m on the hunt for the perfect frilly blouse with a giant Peter Pan collar. Can you imagine a Peter Pan collar peeking out from under these overalls? Dreamy!
What is your favorite way to style overalls?
