Casual Friday

We’re officially in August and I’m soaking up all the summer weekends that we have left. This means kicking things off with a Casual Friday outfit. The week is over, and a little denim/button down shirt combo felt like the perfect vibe for this Friday. You can easily see here that I’ve fully committed to the casual summer aesthetic. Whether it’s the denim cutoffs, the simple sandal, or the wrinkled shirt, this look feels very late summer. Simple, comfortable, and a little imperfect. The humidity has returned the wrinkles to my freshly ironed shirt, and you know what? I couldn’t be bothered.

This cropped button down shirt is an oldie but goodie from my closet. I got this many years ago from Aritzia, and I love wearing it with high waisted denim. It’s such a fun play on a classic button down shirt, and it brings an interesting twist to an otherwise basic outfit.

I don’t love to wear cropped tops without a high waisted bottom, so I paired this top with my favorite pair of Madewell cutoffs. I love these shorts for the high waist, the wide leg, and the color! That light blue wash gives this pair a vintage feel that is simply divine.

Since the theme of today’s look is Casual Friday, I wanted to keep everything on the simpler side. Hence the barely-there sandal and minimal jewelry. If I wanted to take things up a notch, I’d add a red lip and a pair of black heeled sandals. What I love about a basic outfit like this is that you can play around with it and get different results. Add a bold lip, fun earrings, a sneaker, a sun hat! The possibilities are endless.

Now I’m off to do a little work outside so I can enjoy this summer sunshine. Happy August!
