A Winning Outfit Formula
You know how cartoon characters always wear the same outfit? The days change, but their signature looks remain the same. I’ve long wondered what my “cartoon character” outfit would be. If I could only wear one signature look until the end of time, what would I choose? I guess it would be this dress/boots/tights combo–with the stipulation that the jacket is interchangeable. My style motto has long been, “if you love an outfit, wear it often.” This rings true for this particular combination. It’s a winning outfit formula that I’ve worn, and will undoubtedly continue to wear, on repeat!

I feel like this outfit needs no explanation. It’s the quintessential combo that I’ve worn countless times before. I think that’s what gives this outfit so much charm. It looks polished and yet, it’s the easiest combination to pull together in a pinch. It’s probably clear by now that these are my favorite kinds of outfits. Aesthetically pleasing, while also simple enough to feel realistic for everyday.
While the dress and the coat are the main components of this outfit, the tights deserve their own little shoutout. This season has reignited my love for tights. If I’m being completely honest, we’ve been in a love hate relationship for many years, but for now, it’s all love!
Once again, I’ve crafted an outfit that is mostly in shades of black. At this point, I’ve come to accept that some of my best looks come from wearing mostly one neutral color. I’ve long preached about the merits of having a monochromatic base that you can build upon. Switching out the jackets changes up the look and works as an effortless way to style something new. This is another prime example of how that system works so well. It’s the same, but different!
