A Case for Wild Prints
Just when my wardrobe started to follow a minimalist pattern, this ice cream print dress has joined the conversation. This is exactly why I hesitate to subscribe to one particular aesthetic. I stumbled upon this dress at a warehouse sale recently, and although I couldn’t figure out how I’d style it, it was simply too delicious to pass up. No pun intended (I’m so sorry). I love my neutrals, but today I’m making a case for wild prints.

The thing about a dress this bold is that I know I love it, I just have zero idea what to do with it. I could have worn this with a pair of brown leather sandals and light colored accessories, but that combination felt thoroughly predictable.
I didn’t necessarily know what I wanted to do, but I knew what I didn’t want. At least that was a start. Whenever I feel at a loss, I like to lean on some of my favorite style practices. I knew that I wanted to create contrast, and I didn’t want to take the expected route. With those things in mind, I set out to experiment with different accessories until I could find what felt right.
The result is a delightful combination of sweet and grunge. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my neutrals, but there’s just something about a print this bold. Especially in summer!
