New Year, Old Knits

January 26, 2026

Hello January, hello sweater season. The temperatures have dipped to record lows, and I’ve been reaching for thick knits like never before. Remember when I mentioned not feeling very wintery? Well, the weather these past few weeks has corrected that in the extreme. Here’s how I’m styling some old knits in this new year.

This sweater is one of those pieces that has lived in my closet for ages, and has been on a hiatus of sorts. It was a frequent wear when I lived in a colder climate, but got pushed towards the back when I moved.

However, as luck would have it, those typically mild winters have suddenly turned frigid. Albeit for just a few days. But freezing weather is freezing weather, and I’m taking this opportunity to break out an old favorite knit.

It’s been so long since I’ve worn this, I genuinely think the last time I styled it was with skinny jeans and riding boots. Or skinny jeans and Doc Marten’s. I never thought I’d be saying thank you to freezing weather, but this cold snap has brought this sweater into a new decade.

One of the merits of classic knits is that they never go out of style. Today I’m leaning into the here and now by pairing this with wide leg denim and red leather booties.

A minimal winter look on this frigid Monday morning!
