Wednesday Blues
Hello April! I usually welcome the start of a new month, but this morning I woke up feeling a little melancholy. Several consecutive cloudy days have me missing the sun and feeling more than a little tired. This morning I felt less like my normal self, so I decided to reach for pieces that are fun but also comfortable. Comfort is key on slow moving days, and this tennis skirt/cocoon coat combo just might be the cure for these Wednesday blues.

This denim coat is an old favorite from Anthropologie, one that I imagine I’ll hold onto until I’m old and grey. I love the different washes, the patchwork style, and the oversized cocoon shape. It feels like a denim hug, a feeling most welcome on this gloomy Wednesday.
Although the weather may look gloomy, the temperature is riding the line between chilly and pleasant. What do you wear when the day is cold but also warm? All the layers. To tackle the both/and weather, I’m pairing this coat with my favorite tennis skirt and Frye boots. It’s perfectly cozy for those chilly mornings, but can easily become warm weather friendly by removing the coat.
Before I go, I feel the need to give a special shoutout to the tennis skirt. This skirt is a well worn star in my closet, and I simply cannot get over how comfortable it is. Also, the pleats allow for the best twirl. On days when I’m feeling a little down, simple joys like twirling in a pleated skirt feel medicinal. Plus, it has shorts underneath (!!)
I’ve said it a million times, but I’ll say it again– a shorter hem and a tall boot is one of my absolute favorite outfit pairings. There’s something about the contrast that is *chef’s kiss.* Judging by the fact that it’s only April and I’m already waxing poetic about this skirt, I think it’s safe to say that it will once again be a summer mainstay!
Xx, M
