The Summer of the Espadrille
This summer I purchased a pair of espadrilles. While it may not be a revolutionary shoe, it feels like a revolutionary addition to my summer wardrobe. My 2024 summer style inspiration has been the casual elegance of the French girl, so it was only a matter of time before I purchased a pair of espadrilles. So far, I’ve been loving the comfort, breathability, and simply chic look of these shoes. I have to say, this summer distinctly feels like the summer of the espadrille.
I’ve only had this pair for a few weeks, and I already can’t believe I’ve gone so many summers without them!
One of the greatest aspects of this shoe is the versatility. It looks great with dresses and jeans equally, and it can be dressed up or down, all while maintaining that air of chic nonchalance. As a lover of comfortable minimalism, I’ve quickly become a devoted fan.
Here I’ve paired them with another favorite find, this off the shoulder top from Madewell. I love the casual comfort of the knit top with a favorite pair of J. Crew jeans. Add in the espadrilles and the look is decidedly simple, comfortable, and a little chic. Perfect for a casual evening out.
Other ways I’m styling espadrilles:
- Dresses- Midi and mini dresses both wonderfully showcase this shoe. I’ve also been leaning into the summer aesthetic by wearing a lot of floral prints. Throw in a basket weave bag and *chef’s kiss*
- Monochromatic looks- I love wearing an all white or all black linen set with these shoes!
- Silk Skirt- Is there anything breezier than a silk skirt/t-shirt combination? I love pairing a black slip skirt with a white t-shirt and espadrilles.
Seeing as it is the summer of the espadrille, expect to see me in these shoes for the rest of the season!
What are your favorite shoes for summer?
