The Return to MidRise
When I discovered high-rise jeans in high school, it was a life altering event. The higher waistband meant that I could move in any direction with comfort (a feature that low-rise could never), and it also gave balance to my long torso. This discovery felt like one of those life moments where there is a distinct before and after. It may sound dramatic, but I truly felt changed by these pants. “I’ll wear high-rise and only high-rise forever,” I remember confidently declaring through the dressing room door. And while that sentiment held true for ten odd years, I have to admit, the siren song of the mid-rise has been impossible to ignore.

As I’ve gotten older, comfort and practicality have become a larger priority in my wardrobe. There’s just something so nice about wearing a pair of pants that you don’t have to unbutton during meals.
I didn’t expect something as simple as changing the rise of my pants to present so many style complications. I’ve been so accustomed to high-rise for so long, it felt like my mind was constantly buffering when it came to styling these. What do you wear with mid-rise jeans? As I’ve come to find out, pretty much the everything that you’d wear with high-rise.
All of this to say, I’m not giving up on high-rise pants entirely. There’s just room in my heart for mid-rise too!
