Sweater Weather
One of my very favorite things about spring is the ability to wear sweaters and sandals at the same time. I mean, when else can you ever? The point is, our brief step into summer temperatures (85 degrees!!) has passed, and we’re back to sweater weather. Instead of lamenting the loss of what was (shorts, iced coffee, outdoor eating!), I’m taking this opportunity to enjoy my favorite sweaters before the season is over. And since I can’t entirely let go of those pre-season summer vibes, I’m wearing sandals with my sweater. Because, why not?

Because I can’t let go of thoughts of summer, I’m currently reading This Summer Will be Different by Carley Fortune. It has clearly seeped into my subconscious. Everything about it makes me want to run away to Prince Edward Island, eat my weight in seafood, and fall in love with a handsome oyster shucker.
Alas, it’s not summer, and I’m not currently on an island in the northern Atlantic. But a girl can dream. Although I can’t be there in person, I can dress with a little northern coastal flair. A favorite from this read, aside from the gorgeous scenery and swoon worthy romance, is the fashion. From the puffed sleeve, gingham number Lucy wears the first day she meets Felix, to the relatable, worn-in comfort of Bridget’s everyday look, these outfits have had my style wheels turning.
The fashion in the book ranges from laid back and beach-y to East Coast camp, and I’m here for every minute. Think cherry red gingham, sundresses, and broken in denim.
The number of times cuffed denim is mentioned is unreal. Ok, so maybe it’s only a couple of times, but still. Felix Clark loves a pair of cuffed denim! Naturally, this has left me feeling more than a little inspired to break out my own beloved Everlane pair.
This is another take on the cuffed denim trend that feels like the most accurate depiction of spring. Jeans, a knit sweater… and sandals. It’s a little tribute to the ‘all of the above’ weather of the season.
Hopefully, this is the last batch of sweater weather for the season. As much as I love my cozy knits, I’m dreaming of warm weather days!
Xx, M
