September Favorites
With September coming to a close, we’re that much closer to pumpkin season! October always feels like the first official month of fall, and I can’t wait to indulge in all of the spooky and cozy goodness that comes along with it. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t give a little love to September. This has been a lovely month full of books, apple scented things, and lingering traces of summer. I’ve loved a lot of things about September, so before I jump headfirst into October, here are my September Favorites.
favorite song- anything from sob rock by john mayer
Sob Rock by John Mayer has been out for a few years now, but it hasn’t been until now that I’ve actually sat down to listen to it. This album is the definition of easy listening, with the smooth guitar solos and witty quips fans have grown to expect from this artist. There were so many songs that had me rewinding mid song just so I could listen to the lyrics again. I love all of the songs on this album, but my current favorite is “Shouldn’t Matter But it Does.”
favorite book- tangled up in you by christina lauren
I read this sweet retelling of Tangled in two days. The novel tells the Disney tale from a contemporary romance perspective, with characters and backstory that add depth and intrigue to the original story. Even so, it maintains the sweet, light-hearted, humorous tone that you can expect from Disney. Christina Lauren write with a humor, romance, and charm that had me devouring this novel. If you’re looking for more about this book, I wrote a review that you can read here.
favorite show/movie- abbott elementary
If you are looking for a light-hearted workplace comedy, Abbott Elementary is it. This show has garnered much well deserved enthusiasm and acclaim, and the commercials have always made me laugh out loud. I decided to finally start watching it, and I’m in love. It’s done in the same mock-documentary style as the office, and each of the actors has amazing comedic timing. Season 4 comes out next month, and I’m doing my best to catch up before then!
favorite snack- 365 by whole foods sparkling water in spiced cider
If the holidays were a sparkling water, this would be it. I love sparkling water year round, and this seasonal flavor turns a summery beverage into a fall staple. It tastes just like a spiced cider, but without the sweetness. I’ll be stocking this in my fridge from now until Christmas!
favorite closet item- mules
September is traditionally the last of the warm weather before spring, so I’ve been wearing my favorite sandals as often as I can. It’s the last taste of summer, and I love how they easily add a level of style contrast to any of my early fall outfits. I love playing around with the odd temperatures this time of year, and I’ve been pairing these shoes with shorts and sweaters, or with jeans and a leather jacket. I’ve worn them so often that I’ll be sad to put them away come winter. Until then, I’m squeezing in all of the mules outfits that I can!
favorite beauty product- butterfly clips
This favorite is a bit of a nostalgia trip. I used to wear these in my hair when I was a kid, albeit in shades of neon. I love that they’re trendy again, and I’ve been loving how they look in my short hair. They’re small, but they’re strong and I find that once I clip them in, they stay for the rest of the day. I got a jar of 100 off of Amazon, and I’ve been wearing them almost everyday since.
And that wraps up my September Favorites. Have you been loving anything new this month? Let me know!
