Platforms are Always a Good Idea
Summer 2025 will be the summer of the Doc Marten sandal. I’m declaring it now so I’ll remember to wear this pair on repeat. As a creature of habit, I so often find myself reaching for the same pair of shoes over and over. I love giving my favorite shoes the wear time they deserve. However, this summer I’m making it a goal to create a little more rotation with my foot wear. This pair of platform sandals was the catalyst for this, and I’ve already come up with several outfits featuring these shoes. Clearly, platforms are always a good idea!

I have come to fully embrace my propensity for wearing monochromatic outfits. No matter the season. Summer may be the peak time to wear all the color, but today just felt like a monochromatic day. This is not to say that I’m giving up on color. I’m simply loosening my grip on the style rules that I created for myself somewhere along the way. I woke up today feeling like something a little understated, so all black it is!
Thankfully, this color pairs perfectly with this style of shoe. One of the best parts of this pair is its inherent grungy feel. When I went to create an outfit surrounding them, I wanted to match the grunge of the shoe, but I also wanted to keep things feeling light and airy.
Naturally, the solution was pairing them with black. This t-shirt/tennis skirt combo is the perfect summer wear-anywhere look. Everything is light and breathable in this summer heat, and the monochrome allows the shoe to take center stage.
This is another one of those outfits that was so easy to pull together, I can’t believe it has taken me this long!
