My Summer Travel Must Haves
If you know me, you know that I love to be prepared. I’m the type of person that starts planning my suitcase a month before a trip. I love the ritual of having an abundance of time to assemble all of my products, outfits, and other trip essentials. Preparation and organization are honestly some of my love languages at this point. With summer quickly coming to a close, I’ve been scheduling all of the outdoor activities that I can. If I want to actually enjoy myself in this heat, I need to be prepared with a few travel essentials. Over the past few months, I’ve compiled a list of my summer travel must haves. These are the products that have made this summer not only more bearable, but more enjoyable too!
Tote Bag
My favorite carry all bag is a tote bag. Everything I need fits, it’s made of durable fabric, and it’s easily packable. I love this one from the New York Public Library. It’s the perfect Goldie Locks tote. Big enough to carry all the essentials, but small enough to comfortably tote around all day.
Sunscreen
This is probably the top summer essential. I dutifully wear sunscreen year round, but during the summer, I’m especially diligent about reapplying. I always tote around a bottle of sunscreen to keep my skin healthy and protected.
SPF Lip Balm
This is pretty self-explanatory but essential nonetheless. If I’m going to be out in the sun, I always throw on a simple lip balm with at least SPF 30. It’s easy to remember to put sunscreen on your face, but what about your lips? This sunscreen lip balm is one I picked up from Target. It’s Target brand, SPF 50, fragrance free, and it comes in a pack of two for like $3. I love how smoothly this formula applies. I keep one in my tote bag and another in my purse.
Frogg Towel
I love this product. It’s almost like a spongy towel that, when wet, gives off a cooling effect. You can use room temperature or cold water, it does its job regardless. I always pack one of these when I know I’m going to be outside all day. This is the mini size, and it works as a perfect little scarf to keep the back of my neck feeling cool. When you’re done using it, you just wash it, let it dry, and pack it up for next time.
Oil Blotting Sheets
These are also pretty self-explanatory. Sometimes my T-zone gets a little shiny, especially in the humidity, so I love using one of these to dry things up. I love that they’re compact, so it’s easy to bring them anywhere. These are especially helpful if I happen to be wearing a tinted moisturizer or CC cream, as these can make my skin a bit too dewy in the hot sun.
Collapsible Water Bottle
Some of my least favorite things about summer are heat headaches. To prevent the dreaded heat headache, I make sure to constantly hydrate. When I leave the house this can get complicated, but my collapsible water bottle makes everything a little easier. I just throw the bottle in my bag, and fill it up as needed. I got mine at Marshall’s but they sell similar bottles on Amazon too.
Sunglasses
I love to keep an extra pair of sunglasses on me at all times. If I lose one, I have a back up. If I want to change up my look, I have the option for that too. This green pair is an old Madewell find.
Digital Camera
Yes, we’re in the smart phone age and a digital camera is kind of obsolete. However, I love the look of a classic point and shoot photo. Everyone seems to be super into the vintage photo vibe lately, and I love to put my phone down every once and a while and just take in the moment with a bona fide camera.
