Long Live Layers
February always feels like the end of winter. Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking. Weather wise, it’s definitely not the end of the season, but come March, bright colors and floral patterns are popping up in stores. Spring is in the air in March, even if the weather doesn’t match. Because I’ve long associated February with the end of the coldest months, I’ve always used this short month to cram in as many final winter looks as possible. This looks like dark colors and plenty of knits. Until spring takes over, long live layers!

One of the goals that I have for 2025 is wearing more of my own knits. I say that like I have a plethora of hand-made knitwear hidden in my closet. While I wish this were the case, in reality, there are probably less than 5 items. Either way, I’m looking to wear those few pieces as often as I can before the weather warms.
This particular sweater is one I knit a couple of years back. Wearing something hand made is always a bit of a vulnerable experience. I’m still very much a beginner so, many of my projects feature missed stitches or lumpy sections. But that’s the beauty of the hand-made. Character! No two projects are alike, and early projects like this sweater vest showcase my progress as I learn a new skill. This particular vest is the project where I feel like I finally hit my stride with knitting. I have to admit that I get a little thrill from wearing it out and showing it off!
Here I’ve kept things simple by layering the sweater over a basic black body suit. The overall look is nothing too complicated. The sweater is the star of the show!
I love how comfortable and fuss-free this outfit has turned out. Now I feel equipped to try to enjoy what is *hopefully* the last of the winter weather!
Ps. Looking for more me-made looks? Check out this warm weather look!
