July Favorites
This month has been such a fun month for books, summer activities, and tv. Olympics anyone?? Throughout July I’ve been loving everything summer related, especially as we’re headed into the final month of the season. Although I’m tempted to prematurely mourn the end of summer, we still have August to enjoy the warmth! Before I skip ahead to the next month, here are my July Favorites!
favorite song- from the start by laufey
Laufey makes me think of a summer afternoon in Paris. I’ve only recently discovered her music (can you tell I don’t have TikTok?) and have been listening to her on repeat. Her jazzy vocals mixed with her modern lyrics make for a unique blend of classic and new that has me wanting to dance around my kitchen. This is the kind of music perfect to have in the background of a dinner party, on a sunset drive, or in a candle lit living room. If you’re looking for music that has a soothing, upbeat, classic vibe, Laufey is your girl.
favorite book- a good girl’s guide to murder by holly jackson
Some of the most complex and enjoyable thrillers I’ve read have surprisingly been YA. This month I finally got around to reading A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson, and I devoured it! It was so much fun to read a well thought out teen detective novel, and I was left wondering who done it? until the very end. I’m excited to see how it translates onto the silver screen when the show hits Netflix tomorrow!
favorite show/movie- my lady jane
Have you been loving “My Lady Jane” on Prime? While I was expecting a traditional period piece, I was pleasantly surprised by the humor, pace, and supernatural touch that this series brought. I’ve loved Edward Bluemel since his “A Discovery of Witches” days, and it was such a treat to see him in a leading role. This show is such a fun watch, perfect for a cozy night in!
Please note, this is Rated R.
favorite snack- trader joe’s sparkling coconut water with yuzu
One of my favorite things in the world is Ocean Water from Sonic. I think it’s equal parts nostalgia and just pure love for that refreshing coconut flavor. Obviously with all of that vibrant blue dye and the copious amount of sugar, having an Ocean Water on a regular basis is not ideal. Enter the Trader Joe’s Sparkling Coconut Water with Yuzu. It gives those same refreshing citrusy/coconut vibes without being as ~unhealthy~
favorite closet item- tennis skirt
I’ve recently been loving the tennis skirt aesthetic. It brings such a breezy, comfortable, twist to the traditional athletic short. I’ve loved wearing this skirt on those hot July days where comfort is key, but I still want to look cute. This skirt has also made me a firm believer in skorts. Truly, is there anything better than a skort?
favorite beauty product- Sunscreen
This favorite is a little boring, but it’s an essential all season long. I’ve been loving the Trader Joe’s facial sunscreen for a while now, and it has proven to be a beauty MVP year round. I haven’t been wearing a lot makeup this month, so skin care has been essential. I layer this sunscreen over my moisturizer every morning, and reapply throughout the day as needed. It’s light, non greasy, and strong!
Have you discovered any new favorites in July? Let me know!
