Headed Out the Door in Leopard Pants

In the midst of all the fall neutrals, a pair of animal print pants feels like a ray of sunshine. Lately, I’ve been trying to experiment a little more with pattern and texture. The popularity of animal print this season felt like the perfect window into a wardrobe with slightly more visual interest. I’m easing into the pattern by pairing this print with favorite neutrals and black boots.

There was a time in my life, circa 2012, where I had a collection of patterned skinny jeans. Bright pink paisley, navy beaded, grey and white polka dot… it was a collection with variety. While I loved my patterned pants, my style in the years since has swung in the opposite direction.

Instead of reaching for bright colors and bold prints, I now gravitate towards solids and neutrals. So, when I picked up this pair of leopard print pants, it felt like a huge style risk. It’s definitely at the edge of my comfort zone, but there’s just something about leopard print that instantly boosts my mood.

To ease myself into bolder styling, I’ve paired these pants with all black. The neutral base tones down the print while also allowing it to be the star of the show. It’s all about balance.

To keep things a little interesting, I’m leaning into the oversized aspect of this silhouette. The wide leg, oversized sweater, clunky boot, it all feels like a match made in heaven. The only thing missing is a red lip!

How are you feeling about leopard print this season? Yay or Nay?
