Happy Galentine’s

Happy almost Valentine’s Day! Or, if you’re a Parks and Rec fan, Happy Galentine’s Day! I know that there’s a lot of mixed feelings about this holiday, but I’ve always loved it. Growing up, Valentine’s Day was viewed as a celebration of all love, not just romantic. There’s something so special about taking a moment of gratitude for all of your dear friends and family. It also doesn’t hurt to see all of the lovely valentine’s motifs everywhere. All of that pink and red feels like a bright spot in the middle of a freezing winter.

As much as I wanted to create an outfit that matched the Love Day decor, the pink and red in my closet just weren’t working. I don’t know how long I sat there trying to pull something together from pink pants and red stripes. What I do know is that it was long enough to replace some of the holiday joy with frustration.

Instead of forcing it, I gave up on my vision for the perfect themed outfit and went with something comfortable and me.

It might not be an overtly festive outfit, but I’m choosing to see it as a Valentine’s gift to myself. Something soft and full of kindness on this February Friday.
