From the Closet Archives

One of the goals that I have for myself this year is wearing what I want to wear because I want to wear it. So much of my everyday style is influenced by what’s currently trendy. While there’s nothing wrong with that, I also want to be confident in wearing items that I love, regardless of whether they’re in style or not.

I thought I’d create this little outfit series where I create a look featuring beloved items from my closet that haven’t seen the light of day in ages. Instead of waiting around for these pieces to come back in style, I thought I’d play around with current trends and figure out how to style these older pieces in a modern way.

This week’s From the Archives outfit features a Coach mini bag I got sometime around 2009/2010. When I pulled it out of my closet, I fell in love with it all over again! This style of bag has had a resurgence in the last few years, so it’s not too far off current trends. The main challenge for me with this bag is the color. I normally gravitate towards black and brown leather when it comes to everyday bags. I just love the versatility and neutrality of a leather bag. This little bag is a lovely cream and bubblegum pink. Definitely outside of my comfort zone. Even so, I ‘m obsessed with it. I love the almost cottage-core vibes it brings and I’m determined to make it work for everyday.

Here I’ve styled it with an early spring staple- jackets and shorts. There’s nothing like a great leather jacket, a comfy pair of biker shorts, and a classic pair of sneakers. Add in this cute little bag and *chef’s kiss* The perfect outfit for spring!
