Easing Into Spring
The brightness of today’s outfit is an effort to generate the energy that was lost along with our single precious hour of sleep. Daylight savings happens every year and yet, it catches me completely off guard. Every time. We’ve only lost one hour, but this morning somehow has me experiencing the jet-lag of a world traveler. Whenever I have one of those mornings where everything feels like a struggle, I like to keep everything as basic as possible. From breakfast, to hairstyle, to drafting up an outfit– the easier the better. For today’s look, this looks like sticking to an outfit that has no fuss or fanfare. I’m still easing into spring, so today’s outfit is as simple and comfortable as can be.

If you’re thinking that this outfit looks Nancy Meyers inspired, that is because it is.
I watched “It’s Complicated” for the first time this weekend, and was happily immersed in the quiet luxury of her cinematic universe. Like any of her films, this one was full of comedic moments, picturesque scenery, and the most aspirational wardrobe styling.
Every time I watch one of her movies I feel my personality shift into that of a quaint shop owner in a beautiful (and expensive) town. And while that is not my life, it’s fun to play around with style staples like bright neutrals and classic silhouettes.
Today was a low-maintenance kind of morning that called for a loose interpretation of the Nancy Meyers look. This means easy pieces like wide leg pants, a cotton tee and a classic pair of penny loafers. I’m taking a moment to give a shout out to the styling power of a monochromatic outfit. What could be easier than throwing on one color and calling it a day?
As we go deeper into March, I’m making a conscious effort to brighten up my wardrobe little by little. Or in this case, by wearing mostly white. Despite the lack of color, this outfit feels very fresh and hopeful, just like the season to come!
Xx, M
