Don’t Fight What You Like

Do you ever put together an outfit that instantly makes you feel more like yourself? This is that outfit for me. It’s nothing new, a glorified jeans and t-shirt combination, really. But, as I’ve often had to remind myself, sometimes the simplest pieces produce the very best looks. Despite my seasonal goal of wearing more color, sometimes the pull of the monochrome is strongest. What can I say? It’s hard to fight what I like!

If there was ever an outfit that made me want my pixie cut again SO BAD, this would be it. Imagine how exquisitely vintage the whole look would feel with a Mia Farrow cut. Dreamy! I’m resisting for now, but the warmer the weather gets, the more tempted I am to schedule a salon appointment.

Haircuts aside, I’m loving how retro yet modern this outfit looks. It’s the perfect balance between something old and something new. Whenever I feel like I’m in need of a little style refresher, I love looking through vintage photos for inspiration. There’s nothing like the timeless style of Audrey Hepburn or Jane Birkin.

Something I love most about this outfit is that nothing is newly purchased but everything feels like a new acquisition. I’ve independently worn all of these pieces over and over, but somehow never paired them together. It’s funny how a different perspective can make everything feel new.

I think the moral of this outfit is, don’t fight what you like. Would I like to have a little more color in my everyday outfits? Absolutely! Especially as we’re entering spring! But adding more color is a goal, not a mandate. At the end of the day, wearing what makes you feel like you is most important!
