Dad Shorts on a Friday

One of my absolute favorite trends is the Dad Short. Whoever decided to bring back denim shorts with a mid thigh hem is a hero. This style may be polarizing, but I’m firmly in favor of this comfortable and practical short. Throughout the season, I’ve loved finding new ways to style this pair. Whether it be dressed up with a silky blouse and a pair of heels, or casual with a t-shirt and sneakers, these shorts are the definition of versatile. Almost like a song that plays in your head on repeat, I just can’t get these shorts off my mind. Today, I was feeling particularly inspired to style this pair in a new way. Here’s how I’m styling Dad shorts on a Friday.

For this look, I wanted something a little more refined than a basic t-shirt. Hence the vest and loafer combo. I love pairing something a little distressed, like the hem of these cut-offs, with something fancy, like the vest and loafers. This combination creates such interesting visual contrast.

If I wanted to take things a step further, I would swap out the loafers for a pair of black leather kitten heels. The perfect swap for taking this look from day to night.

The more I look at this outfit, the more I’m loving the look of the pair of dad shorts on this Friday. This is one of those outfits that randomly popped into my head, and I’m pleased to see that it came together so closely to my mental vision. It’s rare when that happens, so I’ll take it whenever I can!
