Color Block

Do you ever like to take a complete style 180? As someone who favors a predominately neutral wardrobe, today’s look feels totally out of the box. But isn’t that what makes fashion so much fun? Venturing out of your norm to discover new looks and trends? Today’s sweater is bold enough on its own, but I decided to really play into the color by adding as much as possible. Fun and bright earrings? Check. Orange sneakers? Check. The result feels a little like a color explosion, but in the best way. It’s a subtle color block moment to start off the week.

Is there a color dreamier than a vibrant chartreuse? I bought a dress from Everlane in this exact shade a few years back, and this color has been stuck in my head ever since. I primarily wear neutrals, so when it comes to color, I might as well go bold! And who says bright colors are limited to spring and summer? This sweater is a prime example of how bold color easily transitions into the winter months.

When it comes to knits, I’m super picky about my sweaters. If they have one ounce of itch or if they cause me to overheat, they simply will not be worn. Thankfully, this sweater is none of those things. It’s as soft and breathable as it is bright, which makes it an easy addition to my everyday wardrobe.

Whenever I create an outfit around a statement piece like this sweater, I usually like to stick to a neutral base. Hence the white pants to balance out the chartreuse. However, this time around, I wanted something a little more. Instead of reaching for a neutral shoe, I brought out my orange sneakers for a little contrasting color. Add in a pair of funky, colorful earrings, and the result is bright and fun on this Monday morning!
