August Favorites
Whenever I sit down to write these Favorites posts, I’m always shocked by how quickly the month flew by. August is a prime example of that feeling. This month has truly felt like a blink, and I can’t believe that summer is already coming to a close. As much as I’m looking forward to fall (it’s my favorite season), I can’t help but mourn the loss of summer. I’m not ready to say goodbye to the blissfully long days! There’s so much to look forward to with fall just around the corner. But before we jump into September, I’ve rounded up all of my August favorites. It’s an ode, and a farewell, to summer!
favorite song- lisztomania by phoenix
If you tuned into the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics, chances are you can’t get Phoenix out of your head. I loved listening to Phoenix in high school, and watching them perform gave me all of the nostalgic feels. They have a stellar discography, and it was so much fun to watch them play their hits. I love so many of their songs, but Lisztomania is currently living in my mind rent free.
favorite book- that’s not my name by megan lally
I’ve been on a YA thriller kick recently, and That’s Not My Name by Megan Lally was one of the most exciting I’ve read. The novel follows two teenagers, one suffering from memory loss and unsure of her identity, and another looking for his missing girlfriend. This novel is packed with suspense, twists and turns, and is perfect for lovers of the genre.

favorite show/movie- olympics
This month has been all about the olympics. I’m a huge summer Olympics fan, and every four years feels like Christmas. This summer was made even more exciting by the beautiful Parisian scenery! Everything looked straight out of a movie. My favorite event is swimming and I loved getting to see Katie Ledecky soar once again. I could go on and on about this year’s games but I’ll spare you the monologue. The next time we have the summer olympics it’ll be in LA which is an excitement all it’s own. I can’t wait!
favorite snack- iced coffee
It’s no secret that I love iced coffee. This month, and all season really, I’ve been drinking this like water. My go-to is a rich cold brew with a splash of cream!
favorite closet item- silk skirt
This summer, I’ve been wearing this silk skirt on repeat. The comfortable ease of this skirt has made it the perfect repeat wear this season. I’ve worn it with t-shirts and sneakers for a casual everyday look, and I’ve worn it with blouses and heels for an evening outfit. It looks so chic both ways!
favorite beauty product- sunscreen lip balm
This summer, my beauty favorites have been sunscreen, sunscreen, and more sunscreen. It sounds repetitive, but it truly is the most consistent and beloved product in my current rotation. Recently, I’ve been super intentional about wearing SPF on my lips too. My current SPF lip balm is one I picked up at Target a few weeks ago, and I love how smoothly it applies. It’s unscented, has SPF 50, and is extremely affordable. It’s basically flawless. I leave one of these in my bag and reapply constantly.
