A Love Letter to Linen-Blend
How easy it is to write a love letter to linen-blend!
This summer, so far, has been hot. I mean this in the very literal sense as the temperatures have been consistently in the 90s with seemingly no reprieve. It’s this time of year that I’m strongly reminded of why my favorite season is Fall. OK, Ok, I can’t claim to totally hate summer. I do love the beach, outdoor dining, long days, and denim cutoffs. But I could definitely do without sweating through my clothes, heat headaches, and mosquitos.
Enter the summer superhero, linen-blend. Listen, I love the cool luxury of 100% linen, but there’s just something about a solid linen-blend. For one thing, it’s always a more affordable option. For another, it’s slower to wrinkle.
100% linen is lovely until you have to sit down. You can sit for 1 minute or 100 minutes, it doesn’t matter. Your beautiful linen piece will undoubtedly be left looking like a crumpled restaurant napkin. Such is the way of things.
Linen-blend, on the other hand, has just enough non-linen to keep the worst of the wrinkles at bay. It’s still light, it’s breezy, and it gives a softer more forgiving feel. What I love so much about this fabric, aside from the price tag, is its practicality. You can pack it in a suitcase, wear it on a road trip, or casually wear it to dinner, and it holds up remarkably.
I’ve collected a few linen-blend pieces over the years, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s one of the most comfortable and versatile summer fabrics. I’m in love!
