A Casual Rainy Thursday
We’ve been having so much fall sunshine lately, that I’ve almost forgotten how to dress for any other weather. But as usual, when I get comfortable in fair weather dressing, rain comes to throw me for a style loop. Instead of panicking at this change in weather, I’ve decided to lean on the simplest of formulas– all black and a classic trench. It’s a monochromatic look for this casual, rainy Thursday.
My favorite base for any good rainy day outfit is an all black look. I love wearing monochromatic outfits in any weather, but rain always feels like the perfect time to lean in to the season’s moody aesthetic. Rain in the fall is also peak Twilight weather, and moody neutrals just feel so on theme!
Aside from all black, cropped pants and sneakers are my other rainy must haves. There’s truly nothing worse than having soggy hemlines, so a cropped pant is a rainy day hero. Here I’ve paired some of my favorite cropped trouser pants with a high top sneaker for both function and fashion. I get to show off the shoe while also keeping my pants dry. A win-win!
When it comes to rainy day footwear, I consistently gravitate towards sneakers. I love the practicality of rain boots, but I’ve never found them comfortable enough for all day wear. Well worn sneakers, on the other hand, have become my rainy weather go-to. They’re comfortable, and usually already beat up from regular wear, so I’m not afraid to get them dirty. To top off this rainy day outfit, I’ve added a classic trench coat for a little extra polish!
All I need now is a cinnamon candle and a little Bon Iver.
