From the Archives Pt 4

At the start of every season, I love to do a little closet clean out. It’s the perfect time to put away all of last season’s staples, and to try on and refresh everything for the season to come. This also works as the opportune time to get rid of anything that no longer fits or falls in line with my style. There are certain exceptions to this quarterly closet purge, certain pieces that I just can’t let go of, no matter how little they’re worn. This sweater vest is a prime example of one of those pieces. Somehow, I just knew that one day I’d find a way to style it again. And so, here we are with From the Archives Pt 4, Aritzia sweater vest edition.

One of my favorite things about this vest is how cozy it feels. It’s such a quintessentially fall sweater, and I love how it welcomes the season in such a tangible way. Another key attribute is its lack of sleeves. We’re still easing into fall weather, so knitwear has to be comfortable without feeling stifling.

The shape of this vest feels very early 2000s (but also very 1970s?), so I thought I’d lean into that vintage aesthetic with this look. Hence the wide leg jean and suede boot. For another easy fall outfit, I’d swap out the jeans for a pair of blue straight leg, and change the top to a white t-shirt. A little lighter color palette perfect for those warmer September days.

It wouldn’t be an outfit post if I didn’t mention something about contrast. The oat of the sweater mixed with the brown of the shoe, and the all black? Sigh. It’s the perfect taste of fall. Once again I’m loving the contrast. Here, the all black provides the perfect background for this sweater to take center stage. The more I look at it, the more I find it deserving of center stage.

I can’t help but once again feel pleased with my fashion hoarding. I feel all sorts of style inspiration when looking at this sweater, and I can’t wait to find new ways to wear it all season long. From the Archives Pt 4 so far feels like a success.
