Switch Up the Function
Whenever I’m feeling uninspired by my wardrobe, I like to pick something well loved, and switch up the function. For example, this top is actually one of my favorite mini dresses. For whatever reason, I was at a complete loss as to how to wear this piece in a new way. Everything felt boring and repetitive. So, I decided to pivot.

Do you ever wear something on repeat until it has lost all of its appeal? A few years ago, I was obsessed with wearing this dress as a shirt. I’d pair it with jeans and loafers, or with my Frye cowboy boots. It felt like the epitome of chic. But after a while, it began to feel redundant. So, I switched back to wearing it exclusively as a dress. Until today.
This is a classic example of where a lack of inspiration has actually become an asset. It was hard to think of what to wear, so I just kind of threw together something quick and easy. The result is a summer version of an old favorite look. Jeans, this top, and black leather shoes.
It’s true what they say about fashion– everything cycles around. Now I’m back to wearing this dress as a shirt. Go figure.
