Thoughts on Colorful Denim?

How do you feel about colorful denim? If you had asked me this question in high school, my answer would have been “PASSIONATE.” I think I had five pairs of colorful and or patterned skinny jeans. Statement pants were all the rage and I was a true believer. Fast forward a few years later, and I overcorrected by banning all color from my denim line up. These days, I feel like I’ve found a happy medium in the form of a pale pink skirt.

When it comes to creating an outfit around colorful denim, I’ve found that less is usually more. My high school self would have done everything in her power to play up the color of the skirt. Think patterns and loud accessories! These days, I’m taking a subtler approach.

This skirt is in a lovely pale pink, and I think that’s about as vibrant as I can go today. So, I’m taking a cue from my 2024 self, and I’m paring this skirt with my favorite neutrals. I love how the grey and the black highlight the skirt without causing too much of a scene. It feels like an updated take on my high school style.

This may be almost exactly the same outfit as this one, but I’m not too bothered. Sometimes the best outfits come from places that you’ve already been!
