New Season Same Coat
December brings with it the official start of winter, and I’ve been feeling it. These past couple of weeks have found me dusting off my puffer coat, and saying things like, “is December always this cold?” Thankfully, where I live still has the odd 60 degree day to look forward to. On those warmer days, I’ve been reaching for my beloved trench coat. It may be a new season, but I’m still wearing the same coat.
A key part of my fall/winter style is an all black look with an added piece of color. Whether it be a vibrant red or a neutral taupe, an added piece of color adds so much depth and contrast to a monochromatic base.
For this look, the contrast is found in the trench coat. This is a somewhat newer acquisition, and I’ve found myself reaching for it on repeat all season long. It’s the perfect amount of coverage for those unseasonably warm days, and I love how it seems to effortlessly elevate an outfit. I’m also a huge fan of contrasting hemlines, so the longer coat with the mini dress is *chef’s kiss.*
This has clearly been the season of the knee high boot, and this Frye pair has been the most worn shoe in my closet. I love when I can revive an old favorite! I’ve been wearing them with wide leg and trouser pants, but I think my favorite look is with a mini dress and tights. It goes back to my love for contrasting hems. A short skirt with a tall boot feels effortlessly cool.
If you’re curious about other ways I’ve styled this coat, you can find more inspiration here and here.
