Feeling Festive in a Red Beret
Today, I’m feeling festive in a red beret. This is my favorite time of year, and I find myself looking for little ways to inject festivity in to my everyday. Today, this looked like livening up a monochromatic look with a beautifully vibrant beret.
This beret is a souvenir from a trip to France. I know it’s cliché, but I love a good beret! When I was in the store, I debated for ten minutes if I should get the black or the red. The black would have undoubtably been more practical, but this vibrant red was just so lush, I couldn’t leave it behind. Thankfully, red has been having its moment this season, so this hat has gotten more than its fair share of use.
For the base of this outfit, I chose to go the monochromatic route. A cozy black sweater with a pleated skirt feels both chic and comfortable. This is actually a tennis skirt from Aerie, and it’s never occurred to me to wear it over tights. Until now. I feel like I’ve just acquired a brand new mini skirt! Don’t you just love when that happens? A little rearranging and an old or seasonal item is reborn. Because it’s a fitness skirt, it has shorts underneath which brings a little extra security and peace of mind, especially on those breezy winter days.
I’m also loving the texture of the pleated skirt. It brings so much depth to this monochromatic look. Not to mention it twirls!
I am loving how this look turned out!
Who knew adding red to an outfit could make it feel so festive?
