Skinny Jeans Again
There are so many times in my life where I’ve made sweeping absolutes. Sentiments like, I’ll never cut my hair again (I did), I’ll never wear capris (I do), and skinny jeans are dead (they aren’t). As time has gone on, circumstances have changed, and I’ve eaten my words. I’ve cut my hair many times, I happily own a pair of capris, and I’ve found myself wearing skinny jeans again. It’s the circle of life. A few weeks ago, I brought up the idea of a skinny jean revival. It may be a polarizing concept, especially in the day and age of the wide leg. However, I firmly believe that there is life yet in these skinny pants. Albeit an updated and altered life.
When it comes to wearing skinny jeans, I feel the need to convince myself and the general public that this pant still works in 2024.
This looks like pairing them with kitten heels and 90s inspired basics, and keeping them far away from the riding boots and bright prints of the 2010s.
The biggest struggle with skinny jeans is the shoes. I love them paired with heeled sandals, but winter shoes have been a challenge. I don’t want to look too dated by pairing them with riding boots, but I’m also hesitant to pair them with ballet flats. It just feels so predictable. My solution? Ballet pumps.
OK, so these are not so far removed from a classic ballet flat. However, the heel makes a difference! I love wearing an elevated shoe with this style of jean. The hemline showcases the shoe, and the added height makes my legs look longer. It’s a win win situation!
This pair is also in such a lovely grey/blue suede. It’s the perfect added splash of color to my neutral fall wardrobe.
I’m clearly a fan of the skinny jean. I’m not sure how long this love will last, so I’m crafting as many outfits featuring these pants as I can. It may be 2024, but I’m enthusiastically wearing skinny jeans again!
