21 Reads Based on Your Favorite Christmas Movie
We have officially hit that moment in December where the Hallmark Channel and Freeform’s Christmas countdown are continually gracing my TV screen. Having seen the same movies a million times does not discourage me from a rewatch… or ten. I’m all about the shameless festivity and nostalgia. When I was watching yet another sweet Christmas film, I couldn’t help but be reminded of some of my favorite romance reads. And thus, this post was born! Here are 21 reads based on your favorite Christmas movie!
If You Love The Grinch…
You also love books featuring the Grumpy/Sunshine trope. This is a classic combination in romance literature with a happy-go-lucky character often bringing out the joyful and romantic side of his or her grumpy counterpart. It’s a case study in opposites attract, and it always delivers

If You Love It’s a Wonderful Life…
You likely also love a good second chance romance. In the classic film, George Bailey, after being made aware of his wonderful life, is given a second chance to live to the fullest. In many second chance romance novels, both characters are living with regrets about love lost, and either consciously or unconsciously long to return to what once was. The result is usually a restored relationship full of hope and gratitude.

You probably love a story about people coming together to save a failing business. This is one of the more romantic and heartwarming plot lines, and it is also the basis for many a Hallmark film.

If You Love The Polar Express…
When I think of The Polar Express, what comes to mind is a grand and life changing adventure. The main character experiences a trip full of magic, friendship, self-discovery, and Christmas spirit. Nothing rounds out a romance like a good adventure story– even better if said adventure involves suspense and self-discovery.
Recommendations:
- Wilder by Christina Lauren
- Where the Lost Wander by Amy Harmon
If You Love A Christmas Prince…
It feels appropriate to say that this Netflix movie has quickly become a modern classic. It has all the good makings of a timeless Christmas tale– romance, royalty, and heartwarming-ly cheesy platitudes. If this is a Christmas favorite, you likely love the idea of romance between royalty and an average Joe.
