Are riding boots the shoes of the season? This year, this Frye pair has quickly and definitively emerged as a closet number one. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found that I’m slower to participate in trends, and quicker to lean on tried and true favorites. That being said, it’s always a happy coincidence when the trend world and my favorite pieces collide!
The funny thing about these boots is that before the start of this year, they’d been collecting dust in the back of my closet. They were a left over from my high school and college days, when I would wear them exclusively with skinny jeans. Truthfully, I wasn’t sure how to repurpose them. Well, a little research and a little time gave me the inspiration to dust them off and style them anew.
The result has been a slew of outfits featuring everything from turtlenecks, to denim cutoffs, to gauzy summer dresses. You’ve got to love a shoe with versatility!
For this look, I wanted to lean into something distinctly fall. Hence the all black and leather. To bring in a little fun, I’ve added my favorite pair of polka-dot tights.
It’s a renewed take on this earlier outfit, but with more layering and a splash of pattern. I’ve always believed that the simplest combinations create some of the best looks, and this outfit is no exception.
I think it’s easy to say that in my closet, riding boots are the shoes of the season!
